The school was upgraded from the merger of Zuoling Health School and Zuoling Agricultural School for the record of the Ministry of Education approved by the People's Government of Hunan Province in July 2000.In June 2003, the former Zuoling Commercial School, Zuoling Technical School and Zuoling Teachers' Normal three ordinary junior colleges were merged into the YongZhou Vocational Technical College as a whole with the approval of the People's Government of Hunan Province.In 2010, the college passed the acceptance of the national demonstrative higher vocational colleges and universities successfully.
