I. Introduction of the College
School of Software, South China University of Technology, was established in 2001, and currently has the software engineering Ph, Master's and Bachelor's degrees in software engineering. It is now the "National Experimental Zone of Software Talent Cultivation Innovation Mode" of the Ministry of Education, the first batch of "National Engineering Practice Education Center", the "Experimental Zone of Software Talent Cultivation Innovation Mode" of Guangdong Province, and the first batch of "Excellence in Software Engineering" of the Ministry of Education. In 2017, it was awarded B+ in the fourth round of national discipline assessment.
The total number of full-time faculty members is 41, including 13 professors, 15 associate professors and other associate professors, and 18 laboratory technicians. In the past three years, the college has trained 1 person of Guangdong Province Jieqing, 3 persons of Guangdong Province Special Support Program for Young Leading Talents, and 3 persons of Guangzhou Zhujiang Rising Stars of Science and Technology.
The college has three departments: Department of Software Technology (subject direction: intelligent software and system); Department of Software Service Engineering (subject direction: software service engineering and cloud computing); Department of Data Science and Engineering (subject direction: data science and engineering).
There are seven teaching and research teams in the college: Academic Team of Large Software Development Methods and Applications, Data Science and Intelligent Software Team, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Team, Software Service Engineering and Cloud Computing Team, Intelligent Software and Robotics Team, Software Construction Theory and Methods Team, and Big Data System and Cloud Computing Team. 8 research platforms: Key Laboratory of Big Data and Intelligent Robotics of Ministry of Education, Key Laboratory of Autonomous System and Network Control of Ministry of Education, Key Laboratory of Autonomous System and Network Control of Ministry of Education. 8 scientific research platforms: Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education for Big Data and Intelligent Robotics, Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education for Autonomous Systems and Network Control, Guangdong Provincial Engineering Research Center for Social Media Processing and Software Development, Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory for Innovative Application of New Media and Brand Communication, Guangzhou Key Laboratory for Robotics Software and Complex Information Processing, Guangdong Provincial Laboratory for Software Construction, Institute of Energy Conservation Technology of South China University of Technology, Institute of Social Computing of South China University of Technology.
The college has a 14,000-square-meter teaching and experimental building with one basic experimental platform, one software experimental platform, one innovation and entrepreneurship platform, and six featured professional laboratories; and 17 joint laboratories with Microsoft, IBM, HP, Intel, Quest and other enterprises***. The National Experimental Zone for Innovation of Software Talent Cultivation Mode has a site of 4,400 square meters, and there are 6 training bases, including Microsoft, IBM, Kingsoft, Kingdee, HSBC Software, and Espoo, etc. In 2018, the College's Software Experimental Center was approved as the Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Guangdong Province. in 2019, the College became the first batch of Guangdong Province Industrial College Construction Units. At the same time, the college and Tencent, IBM, Google and other companies to actively carry out "dual-creation" type software talent cultivation of new engineering construction project cooperation, and Tencent Game Academy *** build game development practice base.

The College organizes students to participate in rich academic exchanges inside and outside the country every year, such as the University of Oxford, Royal Holloway College of the University of London, Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Pittsburgh, the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, the University of Hong Kong, etc. In 2019, we organized 71 people to attend summer camps in the United States, Columbia University, the National University of Singapore, and the University of Western Australia.

In the past five years, students of the School of Software have won nearly 300 awards*** in various software design competitions across the country, including 27 at the international level, 140 at the national level, 89 at the provincial and ministerial levels, and 80 first prizes or more (including special prizes and gold medals). These include the World University Student Computer Programming Contest, U.S. University Student Mathematical Modeling Contest, "Intel Cup" National University Student Software Innovation Contest, China Robotics Competition, IBM Mainframe Technology National Application Contest, "Citi Cup" Financial and In 2018, it won the gold medal of the Fourth China "Internet+" Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and the gold medal of "Challenge Cup".
