Yunqi Town is located in the southwest of Hangzhou West Lake District, located in the core block of Hangzhou Zhijiang National Tourist Resort, one of the country's 12 national tourist resorts, and is the birthplace of Zhejiang Province's characteristic town.
In 2013, it reached a strategic cooperation with Aliyun, and implemented the Tengcai Bird and Nesting Phoenix on the basis of the original traditional industrial park (Qutang Science and Technology Economic Park) to build a characteristic town based on cloud computing and big data industry.
In 2017, the town was shortlisted as one of the first batch of high-tech characteristic towns in construction category in Zhejiang Province. The town has a planned area of 3.5 square kilometers, and has put into use 1.2 million square meters of industrial space, and plans to gradually build more than 2 million square meters of buildings for industrial development within three years.
