The college was founded in 1993, formerly known as Liuyang Foreign Language College; in 2002, by the Hunan Liuyang River Vocational Education Group sole investment, built to run a full-featured campus in Liuyang; in 2005, the opening of the first higher vocational specialties --- Business English; in 2006, the first higher vocational specialties in Liuyang. In 2005, the first higher vocational major - Business English was opened; in 2006, approved by Hunan Provincial People's Government and recorded by the Ministry of Education, it was formally upgraded to a general higher vocational college and realized the operation of schools in Liuyang and Changsha, and the main campus has been relocated to Changsha at present.
Second, the school conditions
Liuyang campus covers an area of 185 acres, with a building area of nearly 80,000 square meters, teaching, training, living, service, cultural and sports facilities, and can accommodate 5,000 students.
In order to meet the expanding demand for education and comprehensively enhance the ability to run schools, the college acquired 683 acres of land in Wangcheng District, Changsha, with a total construction area of 510,000 square meters, and the new campus, when completed, will become an ecological, garden-style, digital campus, and become the architectural benchmark of higher vocational colleges and universities in our province.
The new campus*** is constructed in three clusters:
The first cluster has a construction area of 260,000 square meters, including the first and second teaching buildings, science and technology incubation building, the students' south cafeteria, the library, and the No. 1-3 student apartments.
The second cluster is 170,000 square meters, including the third teaching building, foreign teaching building, students' north cafeteria, No. 4-6 student apartments, sports field, elderly health management center (nursing training hospital).
The third cluster is 100,000 square meters, including the indoor gymnasium, the international training building, the international student building, and the hotel management training building.
The first and second cluster buildings will be delivered in September, and the Changsha campus will move into the new campus as a whole at the end of July.
C. Specialty Settings
The college takes the foreign language specialty as the leading one and aims at cultivating talents of foreign-related business and trade services. Now there are English Department, Spanish Department, East Department, Foreign Economic Management Department, Art and Education Department, Information Science and Engineering Department, Nursing Department, and Secondary Education Department, ****Opening 27 majors, enrolling students from 18 provinces, cities and districts across the country, there are more than 12,000 students at present ****.
The college's professional system is divided into five major sections, namely, applied foreign languages, foreign-related economics and management, foreign-related nursing, information technology, and arts and education, and the cultivation of talents is mainly buttressed by the country's "One Belt, One Road" and Hunan's export-oriented economy. The foreign nursing specialty with well-known professors and doctors from Xiangya Hospital as the academic and management team has become a featured specialty popular in the market.In 2018, the college added two new majors, preschool education and midwifery, and became the only non-teacher training college in the province with a major in preschool education and the only non-medical and healthcare college with a major in midwifery. Approved big data technology and application, e-commerce technology, Internet of Things application technology, computer network technology, art design, music communication and traditional Chinese medicine rehabilitation technology will be the first official enrollment for the province.
