November 7, 2022, Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games medical support international summit forum held in Beijing. The IOC Medical Commission, the International Paralympic Committee Medical Department, the Event Services Department of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the Beijing Jishuitan Hospital and other relevant officials and experts attended the meeting to actively discuss how to improve the ability of medical officials of the Winter Olympic Games to provide medical support during the games.

Professor Tian Wei, president of Beijing Jishuitan Hospital, served as chairman of the forum. He said the summit demonstrated the determination of China's medical colleagues to fulfill the task of providing medical support for the Beijing Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics. Beijing Jishuitan Hospital will continue to learn from advanced experience, strengthen relevant training, and strive to do a good job in all medical support tasks for the medical services of the Beijing Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics.

Yu Depin, Minister of Event Service Department of Beijing Organizing Committee for the Winter Olympic Games (BOCOG), expressed his warm welcome to the participating experts. He introduced in detail the arrangement and deployment of the medical support work of BOCOG Sports Services Department and made specific requirements for the medical support staff. He emphasized the establishment of a seamless emergency service and cooperation mechanism, comprehensive coverage of the sports venues, Olympic Village and designated hospitals, and the construction of stable and rapid emergency medical services in the air and on the ground. Adhering to the concept of "green, *** enjoyment, openness, integrity of the Olympic Games", adhering to the "three competition areas, a standard", "dual-entry" mode of operation.

Mr. Richard Baggett, Chairman of the IOC Medical and Scientific Committee, gave a wonderful lecture on the big data of major Olympic injuries to the medical officials on the spot, introducing the main work of the IOC Medical Committee, i.e., the protection of athletes' health. The data analysis of sports injuries in several Olympic Games showed that medical protection workers should receive the necessary training and will continue to work closely with various international single sports organizations, national (regional) Olympic committees, and the Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games of the host city in the near future.

It is reported that ice and snow sports are most likely to cause spinal injuries. Academician Qiu Guixing of Peking Union Medical College Hospital gave a lecture on "Treatment Principles of Spinal Cord Injury in Ice Sports" to the medical staff on the spot. Through classic cases and detailed data, he introduced the characteristics and mechanisms of spine and spinal cord injuries in ice and snow sports, and systematically elaborated the treatment principles. Academician Zhang Yingze from the Third Hospital of Hebei Province gave a vivid lecture on the minimally invasive treatment of tibial plateau fracture through the pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative videos and flat films, which brought new ideas and methods of such treatment to the experts.

Peter van der fleet, director of the medical department of the International Paralympic Committee, Huashan Hospital and Changhai Hospital, relevant leaders of the Beijing Municipality and Zhangjiakou Municipal Commission of Health and Planning of Hebei Province, as well as more than 40 medical officials of the venues to be tasked as the designated hospitals for the Winter Olympics and experts in the field of healthcare attended the forum.
