Chengdu College (Chengdu University) was founded in 1978 as an undergraduate institution, and in 1983, after receiving a loan from the World Bank, it ceased to operate as an undergraduate institution and changed to a specialized institution. 2003, approved by the Ministry of Education, it resumed its establishment as an ordinary undergraduate institution, temporarily renamed Chengdu College, and retained the name "Chengdu University". The university covers an area of 2,714 mu, with a campus area of 609,000 square meters, 334,000 square meters of teaching, research and administrative buildings, teaching equipment and instruments worth 137 million yuan, and a collection of 1,787,000 books. Chengdu College has 34 teaching laboratories, including 3 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, 4 school-level experimental teaching demonstration centers, 2 open laboratories, and 5 public ****basic teaching laboratories; 16 on-campus internship training centers and 190 off-campus internship bases. The total number of existing full-time teachers is 1157, with 129 teachers with full senior titles and 162 teachers with doctoral degrees; there are 3 provincial teaching masters, 8 provincial academic and technical leaders (including reserve candidates), 5 provincial and ministerial experts with outstanding contributions, 5 Chengdu experts with outstanding contributions, 6 experts with special allowances from the State Council, and 1 expert in reviewing the National Progress Prize and the Invention Prize.

In the past three years, 1707 academic papers have been published, of which 148 are included in SCI, EI and ISTP. There are 53 undergraduate majors in the university. Among them, there are 2 national characteristic majors and 8 provincial characteristic majors.
