1. Qu Yuan
In 278 B.C., the Qin general Bai Qi sacked Ying, the capital of Chu, in one fell swoop and burned the tombs of Chu's late kings in Yiling (now Yichang). Qu Yuan, who was worried about his country and the people, committed suicide by carrying a stone in the Miluo River, and the Dragon Boat Festival is said to be the anniversary of his death. He wrote many immortal poems and created a new genre of poetry, Chu Rhetoric, based on the folk songs of Chu.
2, Yue Fei
Yue Fei is the most outstanding commander of the Southern Song Dynasty, he attached importance to the people's resistance to the Jin Dynasty, and created the "linking of the river and the Shuo", which advocated that the anti-Jin Dynasty forces north of the Yellow River and the Song Dynasty forces cooperate with each other, and attacked the Jin Dynasty in order to recover the lost territories.
3. Qi Jiguang
Qi Jiguang fought against Japanese invaders on the southeast coast for more than a decade, eliminating the Japanese invasion that had been ravaging the coast for many years, and ensuring the safety of the coastal people's lives and properties; and then fought against the Mongolian tribal invaders in the north for more than a decade, defending the safety of the northern frontier, and promoting the peaceful development of the Mongolian and Han peoples.
4. Zheng Chenggong
In 1661, he led an army across the Taiwan Strait, and in the following year, he defeated the garrison of the Dutch East India Company in Dajian, Taiwan (in the territory of present-day Tainan City, Taiwan), and recaptured Taiwan, thus opening up Zheng's rule in Taiwan.
5. Lin Zexu
In 1839, Lin Zexu forced foreign opium traders to hand over their opium and destroyed the confiscated opium at the Humen Gate during the Guangdong anti-smoking campaign. The destruction of opium at Humen caused extreme tension between China and Britain, and was the cause of the First Opium War, the British invasion of China.
