The epicenter was located 244 kilometers away from Yecheng County, 227 kilometers away from Pishan County, and 241 kilometers away from Hotan County. The quake was felt in many places in Hotan City and Pishan County, with some people reporting that they were even woken up by the shaking.
The reporter learned from Yecheng county county party committee that the location of the epicenter is close to the border area, and local people have been sent to the border villages nearest to the epicenter to verify the disaster. At present, no casualties have been reported.
From the Uygur Autonomous Region Seismological Bureau, we learned that the epicenter was located at 35.69 degrees north latitude and 77.46 degrees east longitude, with a depth of 87 kilometers. The average elevation within 5 kilometers of the epicenter is about 6,113 meters.
