Several relatively independent movements, under a unified artistic conception, are arranged and combined into an instrumental suite.

Modern suite

Modern suite emerged in the 1970s and 1980s. This kind of suite also consists of a number of different genres, different character, different tonal music collection, which can be roughly divided into five categories:

①Collective suite. By the music of the play, dance, opera, movie music or soundtrack Langtone and other music selected from a number of pieces edited into, such as G. Bizet's "Alley City Girl" Suite, E. Grieg's "Peer-Inter" Suite, Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker" Suite, and so on.

②Independent title suite. Such as Н.А.Rimsky-Korsakov's symphonic suite "Shanruzod", G.Holst's "The Planets" suite and so on.

③The characteristic song suite. It consists of various characteristic pieces and title pieces that appeared in the 19th century, such as R. Schumann's "Carnival", Tchaikovsky's "Suite for Orchestra No. 3" (1884), etc.

4 National style suite. With the rise of national consciousness in the 19th century, such as Dvorak's "Czech" suite, N.I. Peko's "Moldavia" (1950) and so on.

⑤Ancient Suite. This kind of suite, already existed in the 19th century, to the 20th century, due to the influence of neo-classical thinking, more prominent, such as Grieg's piano suite "H?llberg era", M. Lavelle's "Kuplan's Tomb", P. Hindemith's "1922" and so on
