In this interview, we invited Mr. Huang Yi, a senior design manager at Meitu, to share his insights on UX design, as well as team culture, quality improvement, and career choices. User experience design
1 Design experience and user connection
First, user experience design originated from ergonomics, in 1995, cognitive psychologist and designer "Don Norman" created the term "user experience". In 1995, cognitive psychologist and designer "Don Norman" coined the term "user experience"; nowadays, user experience is widely recognized. I started as a human-machine interface designer, and have been thinking about what good user experience design is at every stage.
Literally, "user" is the goal, and "experience design" is the means and method. I understand that user experience design is to take the user as the center, and use the expression of design experience to link the relationship with the user.
How does the design experience connect with the user?
As an example, a friend comes from far and near, first from a distance: gender, dress, height, skin color, etc., which belongs to the visual layer, and then close: voice, character, body language, etc., which belongs to the interactive layer, and finally concluded: high value, pleasant communication, good people, etc., which belongs to the satisfaction layer. The above basically describes the universal design process, "people" refers to the product, "from far and near" refers to the design process as well as the thinking perspective, "perception" refers to user satisfaction.

2 Mito's UX design
Taking Mito's commercialization as an example, we have supported the commercialization of 3 major businesses (advertising, value-added. finance), Finance), there is nothing special about the workflow, but in the advertising business, since we are responsible for the design of multiple platforms at the same time, we implement a system for the unity of the design language.
The design methodology of multiple experiences focuses on building the design center, strengthening the infrastructure of component libraries, design documents, and ****enjoyment resources, standardizing the tone, and ensuring the unity of the design language and personalization without departing from the main framework while diversifying the design.
3 The foundation and excellence of user experience
User experience baseline My understanding is that the system framework that ensures the stability of user experience is the foundation for further experience upgrades. Currently, our design center serves as the top-level design, and establishes "multi-end design/interaction specification, *** enjoy resources, multi-end component library" as the baseline support to ensure the consistency and efficiency of the basic experience, and the quality of the design is controlled by the UE/UI review.
In my opinion, there is no standard to measure good or bad design, and I believe that we are all trying our best.
An excellent UX industry practitioner, I attach more importance to the design of sympathy. Excellent UX designers, the work is interesting, fun, honest, in thinking (design philosophy), skills (basic skills), point of view (highlights), accent (personality), rhythm (norms), each point is very appropriate, that is, just right feeling, worthy of respect.
4 Opportunities and challenges facing the user experience
At present, the general direction of the national strategy is to comprehensively promote the Internet +, to create a new trend in the digital economy.
According to the China UX Industry Development Report, 93.9% of UX practitioners are concentrated in 22 industries, of which the top six are, in order: Internet, advertising and creative, e-commerce, life services, Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence.
The fastest-growing designer staff is, advertising creative +3.7%, digital entertainment +3%, life services +2.7%, Internet of Things +2.6%, new energy vehicles +2.6, artificial intelligence +1.3%;
Ranking the fastest-growing is, Internet of Things this year 4 last year 9; Artificial Intelligence this year 6 last year 10;
The designers are in advertising creative and digital entertainment, the highest satisfaction; in the financial, education, hardware field, the lowest satisfaction;
The above three-dimensional trend of my feeling is: user-centered design in the whole industry influence is gradually expanding, technology-driven impact of the design experience upgrading, the middle platform design to empower the product ecology, the human-computer interaction diversification, these are the challenges and opportunities.
Career choices in the design industry
Design, in English, is called design, and in addition to "design", it can also mean "planning". Career planning has always been important in the workplace, and if you want to keep progressing, you need to find the right direction and keep working hard in that direction.
Combined with the development trend of UX, the following points may be helpful to you:
1. Position composition Currently, UX positions include interaction design, visualization, user research, branding design, industrial design, front-end development, team management, project management, and products.
It is recommended to match the corresponding positions based on your own specialization, so that the theory can be combined with practice and put into practice.
2. Employment intention of large technology companies to give priority to, in the stability (sense of achievement), learning environment (echelon), salary system (fixed salary adjustment), platform influence (visibility), there are certain advantages.
3. Recruitment demand due to the epidemic and the impact of the digital economy and new technologies, companies are more rigorous recruitment, the number of small and medium-sized enterprises to reduce the number of recruitment, the number of large companies to increase recruitment.
4. Competency requirements for talent diversification and integration, centered on professional competence, but also valued communication and collaboration.
The above four points, throughout the "newcomer, growth, maturity, decline" of the career life cycle, the focus varies from person to person, similar to the product life cycle. For newcomers to the workplace, it is better to choose a company with stronger advantages during the newcomer or growth period. Deep plowing design, digging into the longboard ability to become the core competitiveness and highlights, and then based on the interest and ability to find the future development direction.
Realize more value in the industry
1 The importance of team culture
Currently, the Meitu commercial product experience design team advocates: sing as you go, and do what you like with the people you like.
Originating from Youku Tudou, the predecessor of Ali Dazhong Entertainment and one of my favorite companies in my career, I experienced the merger of the two listed companies in 2012, in which I y appreciated the importance of corporate culture.

2 Product designers to enhance the value of the product designers
In foreign countries, many excellent companies are driven through the design. And domestic designers generally have little say. The core reason for this widespread phenomenon is that it does not directly generate business value. The status quo is that the user experience is only to solve the appearance of the problem or a single problem, the design organizational structure is not independent, the project schedule is tight, the priority is to compress the design schedule, do not participate in the discussion of the product technical requirements, can not be precipitated, and there is also a career ceiling is not high, and over time the right to speak is not high.
Although the current domestic advocacy of "technology-driven value creation", especially the rise of artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing has a greater impact on business value, but also promote the development of design.
From the perspective of development, designers should be upgraded to product designers, and efforts can be made towards the following points:
Designers need to **** the same efforts to reverse their thinking, and broaden the scope of product design (with the ability to play multiple roles);
Strengthening the depth of the combination of brand design and business (the integration of product positioning and brand design);
Upgrading the positioning and standards of designers (the depth of the whole chain).

3 Ways to realize self-growth
Design is the only thing that keeps me going, and it fills me with power, and I want to work harder to do it right. At the beginning of my career, I had little experience, and the information was not developed, so I basically relied on feeling my way forward.
The first stage
is mainly the ability to precipitate, in order to improve the long board, to ensure the quality of the design of this job at the same time, focus on icon design, image IP design, design methodology, works are often recommended in the front page of the design platform, the image of the IP applied for national copyright, the methodology began to be combined with the practice of the project, the effect is remarkable full of sense of achievement, growth is very fast.
The second stage
Starting from Youku Tudou, we began to integrate into the management role, half of the energy of management and design, very busy, focusing on the balance between work efficiency, time management, personnel management.
At this stage
I'm focusing on the management of fine-tuning the operation, and at the most, there were about 70 people in the team, covering design, interaction, user research, customer experience, branding, and operation design; I'm thinking about how to balance the UX design with the commercial products, and I graduated from the on-the-job postgraduate program of Artificial Intelligence Psychology of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Since I was born in China, I've been working on the design of a number of projects.
Self-growth and enhancement is not about who is more powerful at this moment, but about who can swallow the breath longer.
