The school was founded in 1977, and was first established as a college in Anhui Province. The school was founded in 1977, began as Anhui Labor University, Chizhou area specialized class, in 1980, renamed as Chizhou Normal College; in 1999, the former Chizhou Industrial School merged, in 2002, the former Anhui Province Economic and Trade School merged; in 2007, upgraded to the province's full-time undergraduate colleges and universities, named Chizhou College.
