Yichun is located in the northwest of Jiangxi Province, between 113 degrees 54 minutes and 116 degrees 27 minutes east longitude and 27 degrees 33 minutes and 29 degrees 06 minutes north latitude. It is adjacent to Jiujiang City in the north, Nanchang and Fuzhou City in the east, Xinyu and Ji'an City in the south, and Pingxiang City and Hunan Province in the west. The city is about 222.75 kilometers long from east to west and 174 kilometers wide from north to south, with a total area of 18,669 square kilometers.At the end of 2004, it had a total population of 5,304,000 people, of which 1,289,000 were non-agricultural.
