It's great to have passion and confidence, but entrepreneurship can't be an impulse without rational thought, and before embarking on the path of entrepreneurship, I think there are a few key things to think through.
Ask the original intention
We have to think clearly, what is the purpose of our business, why we come out to start a business.
In the corporate world, many tech entrepreneurs are motivated to start a business because they feel they have hit a ceiling.
For example, he saw the future of the industry, see farther, but the enterprise's execution ability is not enough or the mechanism is not effective enough, or maybe it is the problem of the team, the problem of the organization, can not go to meet their own needs.
So he wants to bring this company or this industry to a new height through his own power. In fact, this kind of people, they are very lonely inside, because they look at the industry development trend is relatively far, but what they want to do may not be able to get a lot of internal recognition and support, so they choose to embark on the road of entrepreneurship themselves.
In fact, the biggest test of embarking on this path is that it's very exciting to think about the future, but it takes a long time to realize the future expectations, so this path is actually a long marathon.
In such a long run, entrepreneurs have to go through a tremendous amount of training. You may have to keep putting out fires, especially in the early days, when you don't have enough people, you don't have enough customer relationships, you don't have enough people in product development, you may not have enough people with the right skills, you may have a security incident, you may have a system down, etc.
It's a long way to go, so it's really a long marathon, but it's a long way to go.
Possibly even more serious is that a few core developers have had mood swings, and one or two have been poached. Whether it's a technical problem, a financial problem, or a staffing change, all of these can leave you in an exhausted situation for a long time, because there's a lot to deal with.
And there's also the fact that, while you're often on the verge of a breakdown, you have to be very strong when it comes to your own internal staff, external customers, and investors in such a torturous process.
You still have to let them see a very bright future, and when your own heart is about to break, you still have to give encouragement to everyone, to give encouragement to everyone, so this is very testing.
And the last point, why do you have to go through such pain? Because after embarking on this path, there is a never let go of responsibility, this responsibility on the one hand, there is the responsibility of the team, but also the responsibility of the investors, and the responsibility of the customers.
When no one else can solve the problem, we as entrepreneurs, as founders can only bravely undertake. So this whole entrepreneurship thing is really heartbreaking. We need to ask ourselves, am I really ready for this kind of practice?
Sorting out things and situations
A large number of technicians start their own businesses because they believe that technology can drive value, and this kind of beginnings is very important, it determines how long entrepreneurs can go, and it supports us when we have a hard time doing it.
Secondly, when we think clearly about what we do, we have to consider the second thing, we do this entrepreneurial thing in the end how. Figuring out this second thing requires sorting out what we're trying to do with the momentum we're in.
The first level, the thing.
We have to figure out, their own business to do this thing in itself, the target customer market in which the user group is what kind of, with what to drive the user, the user characteristics are what, why they want to use our products, the core features of the product there, whether our solution can be a complete solution to the problem and so on.
This set of questions needs to be considered in multiple ways. The target customer is the most important and important thing to think through in my opinion. Because when we start our own business, we often don't think positively in this way, we don't think about the market first.
For example, if you're doing a browser, how do you make it better, let's look at the browsers that are very successful in the market right now, and what are the ones? Dolphin used to be more famous, but how is it developing now? Is their browser doing well?
I don't think there's any doubt that people still recognize them.
Today we're going to compare these browsers, and we're going to see how well they do when they enter the market very early, but from a third-party point of view, can we help them to define which market Oceanis is playing in, which market Dolphin is playing in, and which market UC was playing in at the very beginning.
We can do a simulation exercise like this, which is how we think when we go into business for ourselves.
I have such technology, I go to meet the needs of who, then related to him, there will naturally be a core pain point he wants to solve. To find his core pain points, you have to design a whole set of value propositions, which is very important, we need to have the ability to think in terms of scenarios when we design the value propositions.
Everyone will scenario-based development, but I think the scene and the value proposition, is closely linked together, because in the past we as technicians, most of the development to do is to speak of my functional schedule is what kind of, but when we come to do entrepreneurship, we solve problems for the customer, often is not a function of the boundaries, but according to the customer in a particular scenario of the needs to be and the market I think that's a very good idea.
Of course, with the value proposition, we have to think about what kind of solution to do with the technology, and what kind of key resources are needed to make this happen.
These key resources may be a good browser, how to let users know it? How do I let users know what its core value is? How to find some channels to plan it and so on.
What key partners do I have, do I do pre-installation, or do I do volume exchange with others? Early still need to have a preliminary idea, that I do this thing, what kind of cost structure, what kind of revenue structure, these questions will determine the back of my cash flow will be a kind of way.
When I'm taking the first step, I'm probably looking at three steps, thinking about two steps, and then taking the current step steadily. That is, at any point in time like 123, even though the path is always changing, I'm going to keep seeing where the road ahead is.
The second level, potential.
It is the momentum, this is very important. All of the above is down to the micro above, but we do a thing, can we get great success, the momentum is very important.
Gaining a small success is to look at the first level of things, to gain great success, look at the momentum. The old saying "a gentleman is good at assuming the situation", we are in the business environment, the economic environment, the social environment, the environment of technological development, the natural environment, is the biggest "situation".
"Time creates heroes", every successful entrepreneur is in line with the development of the times, with the potential energy accumulated throughout the era to promote business development. The fact that a small success depends on people and a large success depends on potential is true for entrepreneurship.
For example, the environment of our country as a whole, the popularity of its smart terminals, the development of bandwidth, tariff levels. Today, when you look at the mobile Internet, you look at when 5G will emerge, and what kind of changes in price and tariffs of 5G compared to those of 4G?
Because the bandwidth is higher, the density is higher, can new entrepreneurial opportunities emerge here? In addition to the technological environment, it's also important that you have a good understanding of the social environment and the business environment. For example, in the next ten years in China, there are several trends that I think are particularly important.
The first is the transformation of the economic structure from a resource-driven economy to an innovation-driven economy, such as the dual-creation project that the state is doing. In fact, it is not unilateral government needs, even if the government does not strongly promote, China's economy will go in this direction.
This is also the reason why I came out to start my own business, because I y believe that in the next ten years, technological innovation will be the core force driving China's economy.
Then this momentum, at the same time, will also affect the Internet + various industries. Not necessarily called Internet technology, we can call it digital technology and information technology, Digital and Information these two pieces will be integrated into all the traditional industries.
We say that Artificial Intelligence will change the way we do a lot of things in the future, such as our finance, credit, and even our financial management, etc.
Similar to this technology, today is still a little bit, in the application of information technology industry, financial industry, telecommunications industry has begun to adopt, that in fact, for the general trend, it will continue to the past we are particularly traditional business, such as agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fisheries industries.
In fact, we now also see, like agriculture, more and more use of big data to do agricultural finance, we see the weather changes for the impact of crops, and finally extended, I may turn it into some forward effect, affecting agricultural futures trading and so on.
This potential, each of us entrepreneurs need to understand. And these two are a mutual cycle, iterative process, you found these judgments inside the potential, in turn, affect what you do, how should be how to make some adjustments and changes.
And in the process of adjustment and change, we need to keep thinking, my team, what is the gap between what I want to do and the big trend, what is the ability of my own team, what is lacking, I need to make up for which aspect of the ability.
When I go to choose a direction, what kind of initial resources I have, is able to do this thing. Another key point is the path of development.
The three-step posture just mentioned is to allow ourselves to be better able to assess the situation, in the rapidly changing environment, the ability to formulate a plan to resist risk can be a little stronger, and in the early stage of the psychological preparation to adapt to changes in the situation.
