Fuzhou is a typical subtropical monsoon climate, with favorable temperatures, warmth and humidity, evergreen seasons, abundant sunshine, abundant rainfall, little frost and no snow, long summers and short winters, and a frost-free period of 326 days. The average annual sunshine is 1700~1980 hours; the average annual precipitation is 900~2100 millimeters; the average annual temperature is 20~25℃, the coldest month January~February, the average temperature reaches 6~10℃.
The hottest month, July to August, the average temperature is 33~37℃. Extreme temperatures range from a high of 42.3℃ to a low of -2.5℃, making Fuzhou the top of the four major furnaces in 2013. The annual relative humidity is about 77%. Heat island effect often occurs, and Fuzhou is a basin terrain, summer noon temperature up to 36 ℃ or more. July~September is hot, and it is a period of concentrated typhoon activity, with an average of 2 direct typhoons landing on the city's borders each year. The best traveling season is April to November each year. Fuzhou is generally snow-free in winter. Sometimes there are sporadic snowfalls in higher altitude areas such as Gushan. However, there are rains in winter and the climate is relatively wetter.

Fuzhou City is very rich in water resources. Minjiang River is the largest water system in the province, originating from the Wuyi Mountains and flowing into the territory of Fuzhou in Shuikou Town; it flows from northwest to southeast through Minqing, Minhou, downtown and Changle, and is injected into the East China Sea from the Changmen Waterway and Meihuagang Waterway, respectively. Minjiang River is 530 kilometers long, 150 kilometers in Fuzhou; basin area of 60,992 square kilometers, 8011.27 square kilometers in Fuzhou City.
The main tributaries in the territory are Anren Creek, Meixi Creek, Dazhang Creek, Damei Creek, Xindian Creek, Yingqian Creek and so on. The waterways of Fuzhou city are densely packed, with more than 30 inland rivers such as Jin'an River, Baima River, Guangming Harbor, Antai River, etc., all communicating with Minjiang River and having good water quality. In addition, the main waterway in Lianjiang County is the Ao River; and the main waterway in Fuqing City is the Long River.
Fuzhou City has 10.159 billion cubic meters of locally produced water resources and 54.69 billion cubic meters of inbound passenger water, totaling 66.649 billion cubic meters of water resources, with per capita water resources as high as 12,500 cubic meters.
