Provincial examinations vary from province to province. ① Most provinces have a provincial exam once a year. See Spring Joint Examination and Fall Joint Examination respectively. For example, in 2016, Anhui, Chongqing, Fujian, Gansu, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hebei, Hainan, Hubei, Hunan, Heilongjiang, Jiangxi, Tianjin, Liaoning, Ningxia, Qinghai, Inner Mongolia, Shandong, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Sichuan, Xinjiang and Corps, Yunnan, Zhejiang and other 26 provinces and regions to participate in the civil service joint examination on April 23rd; September 18th, the fall joint examination, the provinces are Beijing, Chongqing, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Henan, Hainan, Liaoning, Fujian, Qinghai, Ningxia, Tibet.

②There are also some provinces that recruit twice a year. For example, Sichuan and Chongqing have two recruitment examinations a year in the spring and fall. Xinjiang region also has Xinjiang civil service examination and Xinjiang Corps civil service examination two recruitment. Jilin also saw two recruitment examinations in 2015.

③ The highest number of recruiting examinations is in Guangdong. Three exams are held in a year.
