Domestic airlines will realize full coverage of aircraft WiFi, we hear
With the arrival of the air Internet era, the air WiFi business is rapidly popularizing and maturing worldwide. A survey data shows that only 36% of the world's routes have in-air WiFi; 70% of U.S. airlines realize full coverage of in-air WiFi, while more than 3/4 of airlines in other countries, including China, do not have in-air WiFi.

Currently, China's airline in-air WiFi business is still in its infancy, and compared with U.S. airlines, most of the in-air WiFi is still in the air LAN stage, and is gradually shifting to the air network stage, and is now in the process of becoming more mature. Compared with the U.S. airlines' in-flight WiFi, most of the Chinese airlines' in-flight WiFi is still at the stage of airborne local area network (LAN), and they are gradually shifting to and perfecting air-ground interconnection business.

This issue of Civil Aviation Big Data (hereinafter referred to as CABD) will analyze the current situation of domestic air WiFi from airlines, airports, routes and other perspectives, focusing on all the domestic aircraft equipped with air WiFi devices (including air LAN and air Internet).

At present, Air China (601111, stock bar), China Eastern Airlines (600115, stock bar), China Southern Airlines (600029, stock bar), Hainan Airlines (600221, stock bar) and other nine airlines have air WiFi business. Among them, Xiangpeng Airlines for the country's first realization of air WIFI full fleet of large-scale operation of the airline, while the other eight airlines WiFi flight coverage rate are below 5%.

The chart below shows the top 5 pairs of airlines with WiFi flights that code***share their flights with WiFi. Among them, Shandong Airlines, a subsidiary of Air China, realized 1,069 flights with in-flight WiFi through code ****share; while Kunming Airlines obtained only half of Shandong Airlines' WiFi flights through code ****share.

3. Distribution of WiFi Aircraft Models

From the distribution of WiFi aircraft models, Airbus A330 and Boeing 737 both accounted for about 30%; comparing the number of airplanes of Airbus and Boeing, Boeing planes accounted for 60%; in addition, about 60% of the WiFi planes are wide-body planes.

In terms of international outbound WiFi flights, the top 5 airports are. Shanghai Pudong, one of China's top three international airports, topped the list with 577 international WiFi flights, while Guangzhou Baiyun, Beijing Capital, Kunming Changshui and Chengdu Shuangliu airports only reached a total of 501 international WiFi flights.
