The pathology report is usually divided into two kinds of fast frozen pathology report and routine pathology report.

The former refers to the pathology report in which part of the patient's lesion site tissue is removed by the surgeon during surgery, fixed, and then immediately sent to the Department of Pathology to be stained by a rapid frozen section, observed by the pathologist under the microscope, and the results are communicated to the surgeon to facilitate the surgeon's judgment of the extent of resection.

The routine pathology report refers to the pathology report that confirms the diagnosis of the disease by HE staining, special staining, immunohistochemistry, fluorescence in-situ hybridization and other techniques according to the disease condition after the completion of the surgery, after the fixation, sampling, dehydration, embedding, sectioning and other steps of the tissues taken from the patient's body, and provides the information for the clinical follow-up treatment.
