The School of Information at Renmin University of China, formerly known as the Department of Economics and Information Management at Renmin University, was founded in 1978, and the Department of Computer Science and Technology was opened in 1998. Currently, the college consists of the Department of Economics and Information Management, the Department of Computer Science and Technology, the Department of Mathematics, as well as the Institute of Data Engineering and Knowledge Engineering, and the Institute of Management Science and Engineering, of which the Institute of Data Engineering and Knowledge Engineering is a key laboratory of the Ministry of Education. There are 86 faculty members, including 13 professors and 30 associate professors; 12 doctoral supervisors and 45 master's supervisors; 2 part-time professors, and 4 top international scholars have been appointed as our visiting professors, and the current dean is Prof. Du Xiaoyong. In the Ministry of Education's 2012 First-Level Discipline Evaluation, the School's Computer Science and Technology discipline ranked 26th in China. Database is the main feature of the college, and the research level ranks among the top universities in China, with more high-level papers published in important academic conferences around the world. In recent years, the college has achieved excellent results in important international competitions, and the overall level has risen rapidly.
