Studying for a PhD is a valuable experience in life.
What it has brought me is not only the growth of knowledge, but also the breakthrough of thinking, self-construction and the cultivation of truth-seeking spirit.
There are many ways to grow up, and in the classroom, it is no longer a purely receptive education.
Teachers teach in a freer way, and the joy of meeting with teachers is realized in their dialogues.
As an analogy, I feel that the teachers are the vast ocean, and we are the waves near the beach.
The ocean constantly pushes us to cultivate academic thinking and independent spirit, but at the same time, the ocean also accepts us and carries us;
Embodied in the communication with peers, it is not a simple concurrence, but more in the communication to show the attitude of appreciation of the criticism;
Embodied in the cover of the book in reverie, it is not purely reading, but can be put into the book and the author *** dance, but also can be put into the book and the author *** dance, but also can be put into the book and the author *** dance, but also can be put into the book and the author *** dance. The author **** dance, but also can withdraw from the self cold look at the content of the book.
This kind of spirit of being able to enter and exit is called sitting in oblivion in terms of Buddhism.
The growth I'm going to talk about today comes from talking to my students.
Case 1: Tortoise and leopard
In the morning, as usual, I walked from the North Garden to the teaching area in the South Garden to have breakfast and prepare for class.
It was nice to see Little L riding her ****-enjoying bike, Little Yellow, in front of her, wearing a sun-protective white gauze shawl that fluttered as she rode.
We said hello and dined together, and we haven't seen each other for many days, but it still doesn't affect our feelings for each other.
She and I are about the same age, the same year into this university.
She was about the same age as me and went to this university the same year, but she went into a different field than me, educational technology.
We spent the short breakfast time ordering simple food but talking about compact and rich topics.
Most of it centered around what it was like to be a PhD student and the planning of our studies, and we were both quite stressed out about the opening paper we had to face next.
She mentioned that her mentor's approach to research is the 333 model. Specifically, there are 3 papers in hand that are being written, 3 papers that have been submitted, and 3 papers that are already in the pipeline.
In other words, the norm for research is nine papers with me. This is very inspiring to me.
I also told her about another teacher in a similar vein, who kept writing one every month, even when she was pregnant and had a baby.
We both admired the talent and diligence of our teachers, while at the same time lamenting how much harder we needed to work.
She joked that she was a tortoise, and that she was still a tortoise after all the hard work. I said, that would require a genetic mutation. I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to do that.
From the tortoise reversal to money leopard? Yes, we are all beautiful money leopards.
On the other hand, communication brings more understanding and recognition of each other, which is a prerequisite for mutual nourishment.
I expressed a heartfelt admiration for her, a quiet aura that resembled the psychology PhD across the hall from me in my dorm.
She said, which is not, you come as soon as the goddess well? I said to her, I'm very happy to hear you say that!
Case 2: Learning about ****samenessFriday afternoon was the instructor's class, and the instructor gathered us together to discuss academics. The three of us (two PhDs and one Masters) reported to our tutor on the progress of our research.
The project we worked on during this time was the "Meet Yourself More Beautiful" project. After completing the preliminary questionnaire survey and report, my mentor asked Apricot and I to be responsible for the theoretical refinement and practical operation, so that each of us can form a research system, and other research results***same frame to form a complete project.
In today's exchange, my feelings are very deep. Specifically, there are three points: 1. It is very important to see the big in the small.
The mentor said that the cut of the paper must be small, not through the door, but through the hole, so as to discover a wide world.
I said is this like Alice in Wonderland, and my mentor nodded.
In fact, there is another part that I did not express, the so-called academic research, need to reflect the meaning of the mustard seed Nasuya;
2. In the sincere communication, there will be a lot of sparks. These sparks are unexpected gains, when your feelings caused by other people's **** Ming, will ripple out of a different kind of surprise;
When your ideas such as stones into the exchange of **** the same lake, it seems to be an isolated stone, but in fact, it will provoke a circle of ripples, such as Merrill's ripples of the ring structure;
3. The power of companionship can be preserved inspiration into a constant presence and can also transform confusion into inspiration.
For example, I shared my joy that when I thought of the dimension in which I would address the research question in writing my thesis, my mentor said, that's your own thing, and the value of the thesis is in that.
Another example is when the tutor mentioned the importance of the literature review, which is the cornerstone of the research.
But usually the literature you collect is fragmented and you have to be creative to use it for you.
I gave an example, whether it is like a tailor's garment production, you must go through the design (refer to other people's articles, to form their own ideas), typography (reflecting their own creativity, in the overall bird's-eye view of the literature), tailoring (writing an article has something to do with it, and something to do without it. Pay attention to the proportions of paragraphs), stitching (integrating into the text, checking the logic and structure) and ironing (touching up and revising, paying attention to the standardization of footnotes and references).
Learning ****sameness is not only in learning, but also in work.
I am reminded of a close friend's comment that in the future, we must not work alone, but increasingly reflect the importance of overall collaboration. In today's world of big data, Internet+, and artificial intelligence, education is moving towards change and convergence.
Thanks to those friends who are as bright as a lamp, Mr. Zhao, my mentor and friend during my master's degree, once told me that the doctoral study stage is a complete and deeper process, and that after completing this process and completing my doctoral dissertation, I would have the most basic academic qualifications to become a scholar.
And a scholar is a scientist, a scientist in the field of humanities and social sciences.
? Case 3: Everything is the best arrangement
After class, I went to dinner with two classmates.
Mei Ting suggested going to the international student cafeteria. I never knew that Xixi actually had a stay-in cafeteria.
During the meal, we chatted a lot. Although this chat was not academic, there was some spirituality in the relaxation.
The chat brought us to think that everything is the best arrangement. Fate goes round and round or will lead you to the road chosen by your heart, before this heart, the time of the sooner or later has lost its significance.
Life is not about the length of time, but about the fact that every step you take is of your own choosing, self-responsible, and then such a pace will be full of awareness, and its ultimate point is self-realization.
? As I close this post, I am y moved by a quote that my soulful friend, dear Sai Yue, shared with me today.
When there is no desire to transform others, everything is appropriate to say, and when there is love in the heart, everything is good to do.
Indeed, when we are able to be introspective and aware of what we think and have the courage to explore the depths of our heart, even if it touches the darkness, we understand that it is part of life.
It's real, just like the night is brewing the day, and the frozen winter earth is lurking with the news of spring.
Seeing this, this is the spirit of Arahat.
And those who go deeper and deeper inward, correspond internally and externally, open up the outward dimension, and are able to look at the world with an open and expansive mind.
Thus, anyone and everything in life provides us with unlimited opportunities to learn, and this is the connotation of Kuan Zi Zhen, the realm of the Bodhisattva.
