In order to cultivate students' sense of innovation and their ability to solve practical problems by using mathematical methods and computer technology, Tianjin Future and Predictive Science Research Society and Big Data and Mathematical Modeling Specialized Committee of China Future Research Society (co-sponsor) have decided to hold the HUAJI Cup National College Students' Mathematical Modeling Competition. The goal of the competition is to cultivate college students' scientific spirit and ability to use mathematics to solve practical problems, to lay the foundation for the cultivation of innovative talents, and to cultivate and select excellent talents for all walks of life.

In addition to the traditional mathematical modeling, the competition adds thesis guidance and post-competition mathematical modeling technical counseling for the participants. The organizing committee invites excellent instructors of mathematical modeling to give technical guidance to the participating teams throughout the whole process of modeling, and the guidance period is from May 5 to September 5, 2023. The China Futures Studies Association (CFSA) is a national-level society under the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), founded in 1979. The initiating units are the State Science and Technology Commission, the Chinese Association for Science and Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Ministry of Education, Peking University, Tsinghua University, the University of Science and Technology of China, the Renmin University of China, Beijing Normal University, and the Guangming Daily Newspaper. Famous experts and scholars such as Qian Xuesen and Mao Yisheng have served as advisors to the Society.

The competition questions are divided into two competitions, MCM and ICM, which are exactly the same as the two types of questions in the U.S. Competition. MCM is the Mathematical Modeling Competition, which is biased towards mathematics and science and technology; ICM is cross-disciplinary and requires cross-disciplinary knowledge. The questions are given in English, and participants are required to provide solutions to the questions in English.

The Specialized Committee aspires to cultivate more and more sharp big data and artificial intelligence talents with the background of mathematics, statistics and computer knowledge for the country.

The Tianjin Future and Predictive Science Research Society was founded in the early 1980s. The first president was the veteran mayor Nie Bichu himself. As a scientific research-oriented society, it is affiliated with and supported by the School of Economics and Management of Tianjin Polytechnic University.
