Network Infrastructure Capabilities Continuously Strengthened, Communications Operation Revenues Improving
The latest data released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) showed that in 2019, there was a net increase of 1.74 million cell phone base stations across the country, totaling 8.41 million. Among them, the total number of 4G base stations reached 5.44 million.The construction of 5G networks is advancing smoothly, and continuous outdoor coverage of key urban areas with 5G networks has been realized in several cities, and assistance has been provided to various local governments to realize indoor coverage in areas such as exhibitions, important venues, key business districts, and airports.
As of the end of March 2020, the total number of mobile phone base stations in China amounted to 8.523 million, a year-on-year increase of 28.8%. Among them, the total number of 4G base stations was 5.51 million, accounting for 64.7%.
5G, IoT and other emerging businesses become new driving force
It is worth noting that emerging businesses such as 5G, IoT, big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and other emerging businesses have injected wisdom into the government and empowered the industry, and fixed value-added and other businesses have become the new driving force for the development of the communications industry.In 2019, China's fixed data and Internet business revenue finished at 217.5 billion yuan, an increase of 5.1% over 2018, and its share in telecom business revenue increased from 15.9% in 2018 to 16.6%; mobile data and Internet business revenue was 608.2 billion yuan, an increase of 1.5% over 2018; fixed value-added business revenue was 137.1 billion yuan, an increase of 21.2% over 2018, of which, IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) ) business revenue of 29.4 billion yuan, an increase of 21.1% over 2018; IoT business revenue increased by 25.5% over 2018.
In the first quarter of 2020, China's fixed and mobile data and Internet business revenues amounted to 57.1 billion yuan and 158.4 billion yuan, up 7.3% and 3.8% year-on-year, accounting for 16.9% and 46.8% of the telecom business revenues, both of which were increased by 0.9 percentage points year-on-year, and pulling up the growth of the telecom business revenues by 1.2 and 1.7 percentage points, and becoming the telecom business revenue growth of 1.2 and 1.7 percentage points, becoming the main pillar of the stable growth of telecommunications business revenue.
