How well written is the first Marxist-Leninist large-print newspaper in the whole country and the commentaries of the commentators of the People's Daily! I ask the comrades to reread this big-character newspaper and this commentary. But for more than fifty days certain leading comrades, from the central to the local level, have been doing just the opposite, taking a reactionary bourgeois stand, practicing the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie, putting down the proletariat's vigorous Cultural Revolutionary movement, reversing right and wrong, confusing black and white, rounding up the revolutionaries, suppressing dissenting views, practicing white terror, thinking themselves to be proud of themselves, growing the bourgeoisie's prestige, and destroying the proletariat's aspirations, again! How poisonous it is! In connection with the rightist tendency in 1962 and the wrong tendency of "left" but actually right in 1964, is it not a wake-up call?
This declares that his big-character poster is a shellacking of Liu Shaoqi and Deng Xiaoping, the bourgeois commanders. And thereafter Liu Shaoqi and Deng Xiaoping, though still members of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the C***, practically left their leading positions and were in a position to be exposed and criticized.
The People's Daily on August 5, 1967, published the full text of this big-character poster.
