2. The regional structure is still dominated by the eastern region
In 2019, the proportions of express delivery business revenue in the eastern, central and western regions were 80.2%, 11.3% and 8.5% respectively. Compared with the same period in 2018, the proportion of express delivery business income in the eastern region increased by 0.2 percentage points; the proportion of express delivery business income in the central region increased by 0.1 percentage points; and the proportion of express delivery business income in the western region decreased by 0.3 percentage points.
As of 2020, the proportions of express delivery business revenue are 79.6%, 11.9% and 8.5% respectively. Compared with 2019, the proportion of express delivery business income in the eastern region decreased by 0.6 percentage points; the proportion of express delivery business income in the central region increased by 0.6 percentage points; and the proportion of express delivery business income in the western region remained basically the same.
3. The corporate structure is still dominated by private areas
The market share of private express delivery companies has further increased. In 2018, in terms of business volume, private enterprises accounted for 86.2% of the express delivery and parcel market, state-owned enterprises accounted for 12.3%, and foreign-funded enterprises accounted for 1.5%.
In 2019, the business volume of state-owned, private, and foreign-funded enterprises accounted for 10.8%, 88.8%, and 0.4% of the entire express delivery and parcel market respectively. Overall, the business volume of private enterprises has maintained a steady growth, while the business volume of foreign-funded enterprises has slumped.
