In 2012, the University of London's School of Pharmacy was integrated by UCL under the UCL School of Life Sciences.In 2013, the Department of Translation at Imperial College announced that it had been officially transferred to the School of European Languages, Societies and Cultures, under UCL, from October. In December of the same year, Elsevier Publishing opened a Big Data Research Center in partnership with UCL.

In 2014, the University of London's Institute of Education was integrated by UCL and became the eleventh department under its umbrella.

In 2015, the UK government announced University College London, University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, University of Edinburgh and University of Warwick as the five founding institutions of the Alan Turing Institute (ATI). The Institute aims to promote the use of advanced mathematics, computer science, and big data processing techniques.
