The American Mathematical Society (AMS) recently announced the list of newly elected academicians. Du Qiang, a graduate of China University of Science and Technology (USTC) and a professor from Columbia University, was elected as an academician of AMS.

Up to now, * * * nine people-Shu Qiwang, Yuan Yaxiang, Chen Xiuxiong, Li Congming, Wang Weiqiang, Wang Zhenghan, Li Yanyan, E Weinan and Du Qiang-have been elected as AMS researchers. These outstanding people congratulate our alumni. This is the first time that UTC graduates have been elected as AMS researchers.
