Su Shi was born in the Song Dynasty. p>Su Shi was born in Meishan, Meizhou, on December 19[11] (January 8, 1037), the third year of the Jingyou reign of Emperor Renzong of the Song Dynasty, after Su Weiwei, a minister of the early Tang Dynasty. Su Shi's father, Su Xun, was known as "Su Laoquan" (苏老泉), who is mentioned in the Three Character Classic as "Twenty-seven, Beginning to be Fervent".
