It is understood that the platform is jointly established by the National Industrial Information Security Development Research Center and other units, and will create an open source desktop operating system with independent innovation technology.

Now more and more domestic operating systems are beginning to enter the public eye. At present, there are more than 10 kinds of domestic operating systems in the domestic market, among which the mainstream ones are UOS (Unified Communication Software), HarmonyOS OS, Puhua Software, Zhongxing New Fulcrum, Zhongke Fangde, Huawei Euler OpenEuler, etc. But most of them are secondary development based on Linux. The gradual popularization of domestic operating systems is a good thing, but there are still breakthroughs in core technologies.

It is reported that the open Kirin developer platform will allow more developers to participate in the development of domestic open source operating systems by opening the source code of the operating system.

In short, "Open Kirin" is actually the open source root community of domestic desktop operating systems. On this platform, all developers can participate in the construction of open source code and improve the development of application products based on their own needs.

As a resource gathering platform for open source innovation, open source community has played a great role in promoting the development of open source software. However, before that, China enterprises and developers mainly applied on the basis of foreign open source, and the ecology was rooted in foreign open source communities, so their independent control and development capabilities were seriously insufficient. We need to build our own root community, and the emergence of the desktop open source community "Open Kirin" is a major breakthrough.

Moreover, "Open Kirin" has a strong ecological advantage.

Kirin Software, as a developer, said that the openKylin community will make full use of its decades of operating system research and development achievements, join hands with Kirin Software, and build the openKylin community with more than ten industry colleagues such as National Industrial Safety Center, Puhua Basic Software and Zhongke Fangde.

It is worth mentioning that Kirin Software is a leading operating system enterprise in China, and its neokylin and Galaxy Kirin are commercial operating systems developed by Kirin Software based on Linux. The community version of the latter is Ubuntu Kylin, with a built-in Android operating environment called kydroid, which can run some Android applications.

Although the Kirin system is gradually on the right track, the gap is still obvious.

At present, Windows and MacOS account for more than 90% of domestic desktop operating systems, and undoubtedly occupy a dominant position. Most operating systems of domestic enterprises are developed from Linux, which currently accounts for about 4% of the whole market. Therefore, the market share of Linux restricts the further development of Kirin operating system in the future.

China's desktop operating system started late, and most computer users use operating systems imported from abroad. However, the biggest problem before us is how to ensure China's information security when basic software such as operating system has been monopolized by foreign manufacturers for a long time.

Especially in today's increasingly powerful big data technology, billions of intelligent terminal operating systems used in China, from computers to mobile terminals, almost all rely on foreign operating systems, and operating system providers may obtain various information of users through the network, such as identity, account number, location, hobbies and so on.

Therefore, only when the core software and hardware such as the operating system are completely self-controllable, can the security risks be eliminated and the real independence from people be realized.

The appearance of "Open Kirin" will further promote the innovation and development of domestic operating systems, which is an important step for domestic operating systems to become independent and get rid of dependence!
