It is reported that the open Kirin developer platform will allow more developers to participate in the development of domestic open source operating systems by opening the source code of the operating system.

In short, "Open Kirin" is actually the open source root community of domestic desktop operating systems. On this platform, all developers can participate in the construction of open source code and improve the development of application products based on their own needs.

As a resource gathering platform for open source innovation, open source community has played a great role in promoting the development of open source software. However, before that, China enterprises and developers mainly applied on the basis of foreign open source, and the ecology was rooted in foreign open source communities, so their independent control and development capabilities were seriously insufficient. We need to build our own root community, and the emergence of the desktop open source community "Open Kirin" is a major breakthrough.

It is worth mentioning that Kirin Software is a leading operating system enterprise in China, and its neokylin and Galaxy Kirin are commercial operating systems developed by Kirin Software based on Linux. The community version of the latter is Ubuntu Kylin, with a built-in Android operating environment called kydroid, which can run some Android applications.

At present, Windows and MacOS account for more than 90% of domestic desktop operating systems, and undoubtedly occupy a dominant position. Most operating systems of domestic enterprises are developed from Linux, which currently accounts for about 4% of the whole market. Therefore, the market share of Linux restricts the further development of Kirin operating system in the future.

China's desktop operating system started late, and most computer users use operating systems imported from abroad. However, the biggest problem before us is how to ensure China's information security when basic software such as operating system has been monopolized by foreign manufacturers for a long time.
