The second-generation ID card needs to be renewed when it expires. The renewal procedure is as follows:
1. I bring my household registration book and the original ID card to the public security organ where my household registration is located, and fill out the registration form for getting my ID card.
2. Collect portraits on site (or provide 2 recent 1 inch color photos) and extract fingerprints;
3. Pay the fee to 20 yuan and get the receipt.
4. Generally, you will get your ID card within 60 days. In areas with inconvenient transportation, the processing time may be appropriately extended, but the extension time shall not exceed thirty days.
According to the relevant laws and regulations, citizens should apply for a new ID card three months before the expiration of the resident ID card, and return the old one when receiving the new one.
