In 1993, the first Beijing-Tianjin-Tangshan Expressway in China was approved by the State Council and partially built with World Bank loans.
Beijing-Tianjin-Tanggu Expressway is a key traffic construction project during the Seventh Five-Year Plan period in China, and it is also the first inter-provincial and inter-city expressway approved by the State Council and partially constructed by the World Bank loan according to the international project management model. As early as 1972 to 1977, the construction project was investigated and planned by the Ministry of Communications. In 1982, a feasibility study report was put forward, which was submitted to the State Planning Commission for approval in 1983. On January 7, 1984, it was approved and implemented by the State Council. In 1985, the construction drawing design was completed and it started operation in December 1987. Beijing-Tianjin-Tanggu Expressway is the first inter-provincial and inter-city expressway project in China, and it is forming a "golden channel" in northern China with its strong adsorption to high-tech industries. Chinese and foreign entrepreneurs believe that this will become the "Silicon Valley" belt in northern China. Beijing-Tianjin-Tanggu area, including Beijing, Langfang, Tianjin and Tanggu, is a developed social and economic area in China, which is an important "Beijing-Tianjin" development axis in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration. As one of the earliest expressways in China, the opening of Beijing-Tianjin-Tanggu Expressway has brought great economic and social benefits to Beijing-Tianjin-Tanggu area.
? Beijing-Tianjin-Tanggu Expressway is the first modern traffic project in China that is built in accordance with international standards with loans from the World Bank. It starts in Beijing, passes through Langfang, Hebei Province, and ends in Tanggu, Tianjin, with a total length of 142.69 kilometers. It is a two-way, four-lane, fully enclosed and full-interchange high-grade highway. The completion of its entire line has opened a fast passage from the capital to Tianjin port, and it takes only one and a half hours by car. Together with Beijing Airport and Tianjin Airport, it forms a complete transportation system of "land, sea and air".
