Boeing's China Aircraft Leasing Strategy
Since 1980, China introduced two Boeing 747SP aircraft for foreign investment for the first time by means of tax reduction lever leasing, civil aviation has accumulated more than 20 years of experience in aircraft leasing. By the end of 2000, China Civil Aviation had introduced 365 jetliners such as Boeing and Airbus through financial leasing, with a cumulative foreign investment of 654.38+08.9 billion US dollars. At the same time, 654.38+065.438+07 aircraft were introduced through operating lease. 1980 by the end of 2000, of the 738 aircraft purchased and leased by China Civil Aviation, 365 were financed and leased, accounting for 49.5%; Operating leased 1 17 aircraft, accounting for15.8%; 256 aircraft were purchased, accounting for 34.7%. Of the 503 domestic trunk aircraft with more than 70 seats, 90% are leased and imported.

At the initial stage of leasing business, 100% of the financing came from overseas, and the state-owned commercial banks only acted as guarantors. With the acceleration of the internationalization of domestic banks and the expansion of business fields, people have seen the long-term (usually more than 10 years) and low-risk (double guarantee, on the one hand, the state-owned commercial banks provide the guarantee, and at the same time, the aircraft purchased by airlines have to be mortgaged) stable income brought by aircraft leasing business to lending banks, and actively explored ways for state-owned banks to participate in aircraft leasing business. China Industrial and Commercial Bank is one of the state-owned commercial banks that participated in the aircraft leasing business earlier. In the early 1990s, he participated in the aircraft leasing business as a guarantor, and provided many guarantees for large airlines such as Air China, China Southern Airlines and China Eastern Airlines. 1998, at the invitation of Chase Bank, ICBC participated as the deputy head of a syndicate formed to finance the leasing of a Boeing aircraft for Air China, and officially became the lender of aircraft leasing. At present, China Industrial and Commercial Bank has occupied an important share in the aircraft leasing credit market and accumulated rich financing experience.
