Fangshan Yandang Mountain, one of the eight scenic spots in Wenling, dates back more than 100 million years

Fangshan Scenic Area is located in the northwest of Wenling. It is a national 4a-level scenic spot and is called sister mountain together with Table Mountain in South Africa. It stands like a city, hence the name Fangcheng Mountain. In the Tang Dynasty, it was renamed Wangcheng Mountain, commonly known as Fangyan, also known as Fangshan.

The mountains are majestic and surrounded by more than 100 meters of stone walls. The top of the mountain is as flat as a rock and shaped like a square box, hence the name. It is one of the eight scenic spots in Yandang Mountain. Because half of it is in Huwu Town, Yueqing City, and half is in Daxi Town, Wenling City, this mountain is also quite confusing. If you put it another way, it should be clearer. It can be said to be the Taizhou scenic spot closest to Wenzhou.

The geology here is a typical resurrected caldera structure. The mountain is composed of rhyolite volcanic platform landforms and gully waterfalls. However, at the top of the mountain, it is different from other mountains. The top of the mountain here is as wide as a field, with many lakes and pools, and you can have a panoramic view of all the scenery below.

This mountain is not high, but it has cliffs and deep valleys to admire. Most of the climbing roads are relatively flat and not as steep as other mountains, so the climb is not that tiring. In addition, it is early winter, so it is not very hot to climb the mountain. The autumn wind blows, but there is still a hint of coolness from time to time.

Climbing up the stairs, it was already late autumn at home, and the weather was not good that day, so there were not many people climbing, and occasionally I met a few! There are many scenic spots on the way up the mountain. When traveling in southern Xinjiang, you will see Elephant Rock not long after coming up from the entrance of the scenic spot. Here, the cliff at the west end of Fangshan stands out from the crowd. Due to the collapse, a rock pillar was created, which was connected to the platform from top to bottom and separated in the middle, like a giant elephant drinking water.

Continue walking, the grass is green and lush, and a few yellow leaves occasionally fall, reminding the four seasons that autumn has passed and winter has begun. This is a cave located between north and south. Speaking of scenery, there are many temples and Taoist temples, and the world is beautiful. Fangshanshan is so handsome and natural. Local villagers worship devoutly on weekdays. Here in Fangshan, Buddhism and Taoism are compatible, the incense is strong, and there are more than ten temples and Taoist temples. The Yang Mansion at the Beidou Tianbo mainly enshrines the generals of the Yang family who fought against the Liao Dynasty in the Song Dynasty. The Yang family generals are also called the great gods of the Yang family in Taoism.

You can see Zhang Zhenshan in the Nanbeidou Cave. The word "Zhenshan" is engraved on the cliff, which is said to be written by the famous calligrapher Qian Shaowu. Teacher Qian Shaowu left many calligraphy treasures in Changyu and Fangshan. According to records in the Jiajing Taiping County Annals, Fangshan has been enshrining the great god Yang Mansion since ancient times. It has always been a great threat to the world and protects the safety of the people. Therefore, the cliff behind the struggle between the north and the south is also called "Zhang Zhenshan".

Behind the South and South Beidou Cave is the Guanyin Temple, or Guanyin. Guanyin Temple is built according to the terrain and is well-proportioned. There are four masters and disciples of Tang monks in the side hall. The lower hall of Guanyin Temple is a wing and warehouse. Interested friends can go in and have a look. Small and exquisite.

A few steps further from Guanyin Temple to Tianen Pagoda. This Tian'en Pagoda was built by local people. The tower is seven steps high and built of gray stone. The name means "bathed in divine grace."

Five-flavored Rock, as its name suggests, is in the shape of five elephants, but you can’t see it here at all. You can see it most clearly at Guanyin Temple. Look carefully at the cliff. It is cut with vertical seams. If the elephants wanted to break through the wall, some friends even counted six or seven elephants. I remember when I was at Guanyin Temple, I couldn’t tell it from another angle! However, you can see the writing peak here. The lower part of the small peak is round and the top is slightly pointed, like an inverted pen, which is called "writing peak".

There are many legends about the formation of the brush. It is said that Wang Xizhi wrote "A Journey to the Four Counties" in one breath. He was so happy that he waved his hand and threw the brush here. Another theory is that this writing peak was pulled out by a fairy

Just ahead, we arrived at Xiantianmen, also called Xitianmen. There are two poems from the Ming Dynasty that describe it like this: "Optimizing the sky and looking at the lonely ladder." Explain that it was difficult to climb to the top of Fangshan Mountain in the past, and you had to rely on a ladder to climb.

When you log in to Xiantianmen, you will see the word "Meng Yuan" engraved on the stone wall and the inscription "Changsha Centenary Wengli Jinao". It can be seen that Li Jinao was already a hundred years old when he wrote the word "Meng Yuan". When you log in to Xiantianmen, you can see the green altars stacked in the mountains. Just like walking down the street.

It takes less than 5 minutes to reach the top of the mountain by taking the stairs, which breaks the conventional impression of the top of the mountain. But except for the huge difference in appearance, everything else seems to be the same. There are temples and red ribbons, which seem to be standard features on every mountain top. Yunxiao Temple is the oldest and largest Buddhist temple on Fangshan Mountain. It covers an area of ??more than 3,000 square meters and has more than 50 halls and pavilions. The former site of Yunxiao Temple is located in Yangjiao Cave at the southern foot of Fangshan Mountain.

It was built during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty. Because of the high mountains and strong winds, it has been damaged many times by wind disasters. After being destroyed, it was rebuilt, built, destroyed, and then moved to where it is today.

Opposite the Yunxiao Temple, we can see the Peace Pagoda from many directions. The tower has seven floors, with verandahs on the bottom three floors supported by pillars. The pagoda has eight sides, four of which are carved with golden Buddha statues, and the other four have windows. There are ladders to climb in the tower. However, due to time and sky constraints, I still regret not being able to climb the tower.
