During the "Cultural Revolution", he worked in Yanbian Automobile Repair Factory for 7 years.

In January 1978, he became a member of the "Class of 77" and entered the Department of Politics of Yanbian University.

In January 1982, he became a master's student in the history of Japanese philosophy at Yanbian University.

Received his master's degree in January 1985. His master's thesis: "Theoretical Characteristics of Nishida's Philosophy". He served as a lecturer in the Institute of North Korea and Japan. From July 1986, he went to the Department of Political Science of the University of Connecticut for one year.

In April 1989, he went to the Graduate School of Comprehensive Culture of the University of Tokyo to study for a doctoral degree in international politics. ,

From April 2003, he went to Japan to teach at the Graduate School of Comprehensive Culture of the University of Tokyo for one year, teaching "International Politics and Sino-Japanese Relations".

Since July 2006, he has been the deputy director of the Japan Research Institute.

He concurrently serves as the executive director of the Korean Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the executive director of the Japan Society of China, and other social positions.
